We believe PE should be more then just a phsyical experience and should combine the three learning domains, psychomotor, cognitive and affective/social. By incorperating these three learning domains into PE we can hopefully guide student towards a more healthy and active lifestyle. We hope to challenge the students in these three domains by using varied teaching styles of the Spectrum.
By
the end of this gymnastics unit, we hope to have helped students realize
the value of gymnastics as part an active lifestyle. Our unit will
help these beliefs be realized by offering a number of different and challenging
activities, which allow students to express themselves in a wide range
of abilities. As part of this unit we not be including spotting because
we feel that students at this age level may not understand the importance
of spotting and the difference in body sizes and types may cause safety
concerns; therefore, we are teaching the skill in a manner that is safe
without spotting.
